The is a small vineyard at my son's school and I took this photo today. The vines have been covered for sometime now but you can still see that Autumn has arrived.
The school is near the Yarra Valley & we have a few families involved in the wine industry. The Vineyard & Viticulture Skills Centre was developed around 5 years ago. They started it so students in years 11 & 12 could do Food Processing/Wine Program as one of their VCE/VET units. However the other students from years 7,8 & 9 get involved in the process such as picking the grapes etc. It has been very successful & hopefully helps some of those students gain employment in the local wine industry.
I have been enticed & inspired by a friend to participate in this journey. We are well into 2009, so my photo blog will be a yearlong one – still 1 photo a day for 365 days but just not 2009.
I considered the idea of a theme a day (which I love & was very tempted to do) but what initially encouraged me to begin my own photo blog was the spontaneous, beautiful & somewhat mundane photos of a friend, her family and their daily life. The insights of her & her family that she allows us "warmed the cockles of my heart"
I only hope that my photo diary will provide the same to someone as well.
(Warm the cockles of one's heart :
idiomatic - To provide happiness, to bring a deeply-felt contentment).
How wonderful to have a vinyard at school - do the children learn about plants and gardening?
